This charge controller is designed to charge a 12V battery bank using energy generated from wind turbines and solar panels. It is ideal for hybrid power systems consisting of both a wind turbine and solar array, as it can accept simultaneous input of up to 400W of wind power (MPPT) and 200W of solar power (PWM). Alternatively, it can be used as a stand-alone controller for wind or solar only.

The controller uses MPPT boost charging technology to unlock the full potential of your wind power system, ensuring optimal performance. The wind charging circuit is equipped with cutting-edge power tracking and voltage-boosting features, achieving the maximum available power from the wind turbine even in low-wind conditions. It also comes with a turbine braking function to protect the wind turbine and the battery during high winds.

Key Features:

  • Low Wind Boost Charging: During periods of low wind speed the voltage output of your turbine may be below the charging threshold of your battery. This innovative boost type controller can raise the voltage of the turbine to ensure it can keep charging a 12V battery from wind turbine voltage as low as 2V.
  • Hybrid Capability: The built in PWM solar charger allows this controller to work with both solar panels and wind turbines, eliminating the need for separate controllers. It can also be used as a stand-alone wind (MPPT) or solar (PWM) controller and allows for easy transition to a hybrid system.
  • High Efficiency MPPT Charging: Using advanced Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) technology, the controller optimises wind turbine performance by tracking the ideal power voltage point, maximising power output. It also allows the user to enter their own tracking points of the wind power curve if required.
  • Comprehensive Safety: The controller offers multiple protection functions, including safeguards against reverse current backflow, overvoltage, overload, output short-circuit, and high wind speeds. It also features automatic braking to prevent overcharging and turbine damage.
  • User-Friendly Interface: The controller's digital LCD display provides essential information like battery voltage, charging current, connection status of the wind turbine and solar array, daytime/nighttime detection, and battery charging/discharging status. It also alerts you to any system faults or abnormal values, such as low battery voltage or high load current.
  • Load Control: The unit features two pairs of dedicated load terminals (10A rated) which can be programmed with various timer functions. Both load outputs can be set in seven modes, such as light control on/off, light control on and time control off.
  • Advanced Software Configuration: The software allows the user to set many parameters such as charging and disconnect voltages, wind turbine overcurrent, wind turbine start voltage, wind braking settings, as well as to access monitoring and historical data.
